This short video is based on a Paiute folktale. Nikolai Mishler adapted the story, designed the mask, choreographed, performed, and filmed/edited. The music is Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 in Bflat, Op23 conducted by Leonard Bernstein with the NYPhilharmonic.

About the Author

Nikolai Mishler (he/him) is a 2nd year Master of Art in Social Justice (MASJ) student studying the intersections of global folk performance, ritual, and agricultural traditions, as technologies of collective liberation. He works as an immigration justice organizer at Jews For Racial & Economic Justice (JFREJ), and has spent the last decade as an interdisciplinary artist, organizer, farmer and educator.
